Genie® II allows real-time isothermal techniques to be performed on a low power portable platform, suitable for use in the field or laboratory. The closed tube system used in Genie® II avoids any post-amplification handling thereby eliminating laboratory contamination from the amplified product.

The Genie® II instrument includes two independent heating blocks, each holding a proprietary 8-microtube strip which has been optimised for the instrument. The instrument allows a temperature gradient to be run across each block to determine the optimal reaction temperature. Genie® II can be programmed to perform a post-amplification anneal step to confirm the correct product is present.
